The atelier

Twelve hands,one room

Hands cutting charcoal wool on the atelier table

Method

We start with a block cut on a real body, then remove until only the line remains. Nothing enters the line to fill a gap in a grid.

Cloth is chosen for how it ages: undyed cottons that lighten toward the sun, gabardine that dries sharp, merino knitted on older, slower machines. Finishing is done by the same twelve people who cut the pattern, which is why a release is four pieces and not forty.
